Each has his past shut in him like the leaves of a book known to him by his heart, and his friends can only read the title.
GHOST WITH THE MOST
“You don`t believe in me,”observed the Ghost.
“I don`t,” said Scrooge.
“What evidence would you have of my reality, beyond that of your senses?”
“I don`t know,” said Scrooge.
“Why do you doubt your senses?”
“Because,” said Scrooge, “a little thing affects them. A slight disorder of the stomach makes them cheats. You may be an undigested bit of beef, a blot of mustard, a crumb of cheese, a fragment of an underdone potato. There`s more of gravy than of grave about you, whatever you are!”
Now, `A Christmas Carol` is a cracking good read, but as always with Dickens, its lathered all over with a social message and sentimentality. I`m not knocking the big guy, just putting my opinion out there; this is a personal blog after all. It made me wonder though, how many people out there have really seen a ghost? I have. Or at least, I think I have – more than once. That`s the thing about the supernatural, it`s a very personal experience when all is said and done. I have seen more things in heaven and earth, and all that jazz. Am I blessed with an ability to see what cannot be seen, plain delusional, or the victim of night terrors? There have been faceless spectres standing by my bed, the faces of angels, or whatever, moving silently from one wall to another, and figures just standing and watching. It is said by some, that we exist in a computer simulation, and thus, we are the products of another`s imagination; but what if the programmer is also the product of another simulation, devised by another mind? Like the question of God, it goes on endlessly in a timeless loop. We start and end at the beginning, like a dog chasing it s tail. It`s fairly obvious that there are no answers, only questions; because as soon as something is nudged a little down the road, another obstacle pops up and introduces itself. If you have more questions than answers, welcome to my world. Like eternity, the carousel goes on forever and a day…and a day…and a day.
