If you remember my love in your prayers as strongly as I adore you,
I shall scarcely be forgotten, for I am yours.
~~ Henry Rex forever ~~
Be daily prove you shall me find
To be to you both loving and kind.
~~ Anne Boleyn ~~
The above Book of Hours dates from around 1500, and in all likelihood belonged to Anne Boleyn, and is evidence of king Henry`s love affair with her. Henry deliberately chose to write his note to Anne on the page depicting himself as a lovesick man of sorrows. Anne`s choice of page is equally significant for her reply: for she wrote directly below an image of the Annunciation, with the Archangel Gabriel telling the Virgin Mary that she would bring a son into the world. This subtle reference is showing Henry that she would succeed in giving him a much wanted son where his first wife Katherine of Aragon had failed.
Even for a queen, life is a game of fickle chance, and Henry would ultimately lose patience, along with his love for his once beloved Anne. While she awaited her life`s end on the execution block, Henry was out hunting with his cronies, his thoughts drifting towards the new love of his life……….Jane Seymour.
